Our Excursion to Murtala Muhammed International Airport

Our Excursion to Murtala Muhammed International Airport

On Friday, 31st January, our students embarked on a memorable excursion to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMA). The trip was designed to inspire curiosity, broaden horizons, and provide our visually impaired students with a hands-on experience of one of Nigeria's busiest and most important transportation hubs.

The day began with a warm welcome from the airport directors, whose kindness and enthusiasm set the tone for our visit. They ensured that every aspect of the tour was accessible and engaging for our students.

Our guided tour started with a fascinating brief history of the airport, where we learned about its establishment, significance, and role in connecting Nigeria to the rest of the world. The detailed storytelling brought the airport’s rich legacy to life, offering our students a vivid mental picture of its journey through the years.

The highlight of the visit was stepping inside a working airplane. For many of our students, this was their first encounter with an actual aircraft, and the excitement was palpable. The engineers on site took the time to explain, in clear and relatable terms, how airplanes operate. They described the functions of various parts of the plane, from the engines to the control systems, making the complex world of aviation accessible and fascinating. Our students were encouraged to touch and feel the components as the engineers explained their roles. This tactile engagement allowed them to form a deeper connection with the experience, sparking curiosity about careers in aviation and engineering.

Throughout the excursion, the staff at MMA were incredibly accommodating, ensuring our students felt included every step of the way. Their warm hospitality left a lasting impression on both students and staff alike. The excursion was not just a visit; it was a journey of discovery, learning, and inspiration. It underscored the importance of creating inclusive opportunities for all, reminding us that no dream is too big and no boundary too far to overcome.

We are deeply grateful to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport team for making this experience so impactful and memorable. It was truly a day to remember, filled with new knowledge, joy, and endless possibilities for our students’ futures.
